Short Mat Leagues 2024-25

The teams for the Short Mat leagues were drawn tonight (27 September) and the new system has thrown up some interesting pairings and triples teams. It should make for closer matches and tighter competition in the leagues overall. The 20 Pairs teams will be divided into 2 pools of 10, playing on alternate Fridays, and will be put together to ensure that couples play on the same night. All the fixtures will be published here and fixture cards will be made available before the leagues get under way (09 October for the Triples, 11 October for the first Pairs matches).

The Short Mat knockout competitions will be drawn at the end of December, so you still have time to enter. If you can't remember whether you have entered, there is a full list here. I will publish a schedule for these matches after the draw has been made but be aware that you may be playing at the weekend or other spare evenings, when we have no skittles matches.

If you need some practice, the regular Monday and Wednesday afternoon roll-up sessions will continue right through the season. We will leave the mats down whenever possible, so that you can come down and practice at other times,

The rules for all competitions are already on the club website and have been posted on the noticeboard before the start of the season.

Having won promotion last season (spot the handsome shield under the trophy cabinet) we will be playing in Division 1 of the County Winter League. You will find a summary of how the league works on the noticeboard. Everyone who played in previous years really enjoyed the games and the challenge of playing on different mats and venues. If you would like to play in the Winter League, please indicate on the entry form and we will register your name to play in the county leagues.
