Cheltenham Whaddon Bowls Club

Coaching

Please contact Eddie or Roger  to arrange your coaching this year.

As well as learning how to play the game, it is useful to know the Laws that govern it: copies of the Laws are available from the Secretary or can be ordered from the Bowls England website. Alternatively you can download the PDF version below to study at your leisure.

While knowledge of the Laws is useful, it is perhaps more important for the new bowler to become familiar with the etiquette and conventions of behaviour on the green, which help to keep the game friendly and enjoyable. We have produced 2 short guides describing the basic etiquette of the game and the roles of each player in a team game. We hope these, together with advice from experienced bowlers and coaches, will help you navigate through any  potential pitfalls: if there is anything you don't understand, please don't be afraid to ask.

The final guide is intended for those who act as markers in singles games at Club level. If you want to progress as a marker or become an umpire, there are courses available from time to time, which are advertised on the Club noticeboard and on this website (see below).
