President's Cup 2024

This year’s President’s Cup triples competition was played on Sunday 21 July 2024, with a record number of entries (17). After some close and a few not so close games, the two teams who won through were David Potter, Pev Walsh & Geof Hack, who played against Malcolm Hodges, Nigel Kavanagh (Derek Fry as sub for final) & Ray Hawkins iIn the final on 07 September. David, Pev & Geof emerged as convincing winners by 17 shots to 7.

 

 

PRESIDENT'S CUP RULES

  1. Each match shall be over 7 ends but limited in time to no more than 1 hour. To ensure no delay to the timetable, the match shall finish at the completion of the end in progress after 55 minutes (signalled by hooter). To count as an end in progress the jack must be delivered and centred, before the hooter sounds.
  2. There shall be no trial ends, all shots to count.

  3. A team causing a dead end shall lose that end, conceding 2 shots. The end shall not be replayed.

  4. Players must not visit the head, except in the final game, which has no time limit.

  5. Playing position within a team must be rotated between matches in the following order: lead > second, second > skip, skip > lead. Any team failing to rotate as indicated will be disqualified. In any play-off game and in the final, teams may choose their playing order, but cannot change it, once the game has begun.

  6. The winning team in each match will gain 2 points. For a draw each team will gain 1 point.

  7. In the event of a tie on points after the group/league stage the result between the tied teams shall determine position. If there is still a tie, then shot difference shall determine position.

  8. The final game, to be played on Finals Day, will be contested by the 2 teams finishing with the best record by either league or group position or by play-off if more than 2 groups. The final shall be played over 10 ends, with an extra end in the event of a tie.

  9. The organiser’s decision on all matters in dispute shall be final.
