President's Cup 2023

Twelve teams entered by the closing date (19 July) and have been drawn at random into 3 groups of 4 teams, as shown in the table below. Each group will play a round robin, so all teams will play at least 3 games. To ensure that teams rotate position correctly, you must play in the order given on the scorecard for each match.

The winners of each group and the best runner-up will then contest the semi-finals. The best runner-up will be the second placed team with the most points gained; if there is a tie, the team with the greater shot difference and, if still tied, the higher number of shots scored, will go forward to the semi-final. Semi-Finals will begin at 1645, to allow time to calculate tables and determine the best runner-up, who will play the group winner with the best record, as determined by the criteria above. Teams may play in the order of their choice in the semi-final matches. The final match will take place on Finals Days, 9-10 September 2023.

Update (24 July): Thanks to all for making it a successful day and particularly for keeping to the timings. The 3 group winners were Ramon Riera, John Petchey & Dave Simmons (Group 1), Malcolm Hodges, Nigel Kavanagh & Ray Hawkins (Group 2) and Tudor Morris, Pev Walsh & Dave Potter (Group 3). The best runners-up, who came from Group 3 and joined them in the semi-final matches were Carol Savage, Trish Williams & Mark Beaven. After 2 close matches the teams who will contest the final in September are Ramon Riera, John Petchey & Dave Simmons and Malcolm Hodges, Nigel Kavanagh & Ray Hawkins.
