BOWLS ENGL. AWARDS NIGHT

Greenkeeper, Mark Piper, was nominated for the second year running  for Greenkeeper of the Year and, accordingly, attended the Bowls England Awards Night which was held at the ATHENA in Leicester on Saturday, February 25th 2023.
The evening began with a VIP reception for all those nominated for an award. This was followed by a very good meal and live music.      More than 350 people from around the Country attended the very well organised event.  Mark attended the event with his daughter and they both had a very enjoyable evening in the company of Stephen Hemsley, the Bowls England Director of Finance, and his wife. Although Mark had been  shortlisted for Greenkeeper of the year the award went to Graham Instone from Yorkshire. Not only has Graham done a great job on his own Green but he also started his own Roadshow, visiting clubs throughout Yorkshire giving advice. Mark said 'that when we have finished working on our Green we go on a tour of Maldon pubs which may have been the difference so I can't complain.' There was a presentation of the best moments from the Commonwealth Games and the opportunity to meet the England squad who were all present.
