Work Sessions 2024

21 January 2024

At the first work party of this year we were pleased to welcome two new volunteers. We all focused on litter picking and between us collected 11 bags of rubbish.

18 February 2024

A good turnout with 12 volunteers splitting the time between weeding and tidying in the Peace Garden, and collecting 9 bags of rubbish.

24 March 2024

The main focus today was on pruning the Hydrangeas and cutting back brambles.  Some of the Hydrandgeas were hard pruned to encourage bigger, but fewer, blooms. In other areas we went in lightly to encourage more flowers.

14 April 2024

A well attended session with 11 volunteers in attendance. Some of us met with Ian and Steve from Parks and Gardens at the start of the session. They are helping us to plan ongoing work in the Peace Garden.  We also did a walk through to identify the best place to put the plants which had been donated to us by Sainsbury’s.  Some then worked on pruning in the Peace Garden, others planting along the border near Woodend and the rest litter picking.

5 May 2024

Only 3 volunteers today - 2 started clearing the overgrown border near the entrance to The Crescent and one collected 3 bags of rubbish.
