Work Sessions
Friday 5th June
Four members present - Weeded shrub borders, tidied Woodend borders and cut back sycamore sapling.
Sunday 14th June
Six members present - Weeded edge of Woodend footpath overlooking the Urn flowerbed and trimmed back overgrown ivy. Avoided the Japanese knotweed. Collected litter.
Sunday 28th June
Nine members present - five litter pickers and four weeding. Six bags of litter collected and length of the long border below the old school cleared of weeds.
Wednesday 8th July
Five members present. Continued weeding the long border. Six wheelbarrow loads of weeds removed to skip.
Sunday 19th July
Eight members present. Four collected litter and four completed weeding of the long border. Only four wheelbarrow full of weeds this time.
Sunday August 2nd
Eight members cleaned and swept the steps and paths below the Art Gallery, cleared ivy from the Londesborough Lodge gateway, weeded and deadheaded the Woodend Tower border, started weeding and tidying up the Woodend corner border and cleared more litter
Wednesday 12th August
Four members completed weeding the Woodend corner bed, cut back sycamore saplings and overhanging brambles, finished weeding one half of the shrub borders and planted a variety of perennials also in the shrub border.
Sunday 23rd August
Eleven members removed many wheelbarrow loads of strimmed vegetation to the skip, cleared seventeen bags of litter from one small area below Londesborough Lodge and tidied up the shrub border.
Wednesday 2nd September

Sunday 13th September.
Eight members attended, Two hoed the long border and put in a range of perennial plants - Veronica, Geum, Potentilla and saxifrage. Four weeded a section of the rockery and swept soil from the bridge path. Two litter picked.
Sunday 11th October
Eight members attended. Over 400 bulbs (daffodil, Aconite, crocus, anemone and scilla) were planted in the borders below the art gallery and the shrub borders by the Crescent entrance were weeded and Alliums and daffodil bulbs put in. Our litter pickers removed three bags of assorted rubbish.
Sunday 25th October
Seven members attended. More bulbs were planted (Scilla, Dogs tooth violet and daffodils) in the borders below the Art Gallery and Woodend. Purple leafed weigelia, cranesbill and london pride were also put in the borders below Woodend. Primroses were added to the bank surrounding the grassed area near the Crescent entrance and the shrub beds were hoed. Two of the leaf mould cages were filled.
