Bracknell Cavaliers Golf Society Donnington Valley 29 June 2023

Donnington Valley Golf Club Thursday 29 June 2023

by Alan Papps

I have to confess, this is one of my favourite golf courses on the society events. Maybe because I’ve won the Summer trophy here twice ðŸ˜Š

There were only 6 of us in the morning (myself, Mike, Tim, Steve A, Steve F and Nigel). We played a 9-hole Texas Trio competition, I played with Mike & Nigel, it was a lot of fun and we all had some very good (and bad) shots. The game was actually tied with both groups scoring a commendable 1 over par for the 9 holes.

After lunch (Posh sandwiches and chips), I was back out with Trevor H, Colin and Tim. Birdied the 1st with a chip-in which was nice, then played fairly steady golf throughout and managed to score on every hole without losing a ball which is always a bonus. Ended up with 35 points which I initially thought would be good for a top 5 spot. How wrong was I as this ended up being the winning score just piping Tim by a point!

NTP competition was very tight, our first 3 shots in our group all landed on the green within 10-15 feet of the pin, only for Colin to step up and stick his tee shot 3’10” from the hole. This received a round of applause from the club house which was a nice gesture. Well done Colin – great shot. Shame you missed the birdie 😉

I want to thank Trevor, Colin & Tim for their great company and really enjoyed playing this tricky course again.

Cheers all
