Essential Raphael (1483 - 1520)

The Deposition The Deposition

The Deposition is one of the many Raphael masterpieces, which informed the academic study of art right up to the mid 19th century. In its conception and pathos, it looks both North to the Netherlandish master, Rogier van der Weyden’s Descent from the Cross and South to the Florentine masters, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci.

Please join me for a concise review of this Renaissance genius, where we will enjoy an informal discussion of a selection of Raphael’s most renowned and beloved works.
