Southampton – London Pipeline Project

The Southampton-London aviation fuel pipeline which runs through the borders of Warnford Parish is to be replaced (see the article in the planning area of this website). You are reminded that the preferred route for the new pipeline is now out for consultation, with responses required by October 19th. Since this has been designated as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project which bypasses normal planning processes, the ability to influence the outcome may be limited.

You can see full details of the route on the project website at https://www.slpproject.co.uk/preferred-route-consultation/

The route follows the existing pipeline up the valley from Betty Mundy’s Bottom to Lomer Farm, under Wheely Down Road and Kilmeston Road just west of Rooksgrove Farm and crosses the fields behind Riversdown House. The new pipeline then kinks eastwards, passing just east of Blackhouse Farm, from which point there are still two options. One runs north eastwards across fields until it hits Brockwood Bottom, where it turns north west and away to join the existing route. The other turns east from Blackhouse Farm, crossing Riversdown Road and running across Hurst Down, to cross Brockwood Bottom very close to the junction with Riversdown Road. The second option avoids National Trust land. It isn’t clear when a final decision on this part of the route will be taken.

This update along with the updated map of the route through the Parish can be viewed at the planning page of the website, but you are recommended to look at the project website for accurate details.
