Two men in a large blue pick up, reg beginning UK21, have turned up twice in our village to 'rinse' American signal crayfish in the river Meon, by the bridge. They say they caught the crayfish in a pond near Alton and want to eat them, so to keep them alive and fresh they are rinsing them on their way home in the river. The problem with this is these crayfish are an invasive species that carry a disease that wipes out the native British white clawed crayfish and should not be brought anywhere near the river Meon. Anyone who sees these men should phone 0800 807 060 and report them to the Environment Agency.
